The oceanic realm of image and myth traps us in a plane of perception referred to by mystics as the ‘astral,’ where wild and massive spirits roam on the currents of imagination and dream, shaped and reshaped in rough winds that sweep the blind borders between emotion and reason. A transparent sheet made of glass shows off its own wall mount. There is an object of clear acrylic standing on the floor. It looks like a plinth but there is nothing on it, and it has a clear view right through. Nearby is another object, a collection of sheets of glass. The sheets are organised side by side, like a transparent archive. There is a frame filled with ashes and charcoal and a sound piece that occupies the same physical space. An audial mass made out of white noise. Through an intuitive filtering it has been sculpted into fluctuating scenes of nature and abstraction. Christofer Lämgren has under the name Nana April Jun released sound art with the London based publisher Touch. On the album The Ontology of Noise (2009) he researched the image creating potential of noise and the relationship between digital noise and the sounds of nature. His previous performances include live acts at Netmage 10 in Bologna, Theatre de la Cite Internationale in Paris and on various swedish festivals for sound art and experimental music. Alongside this he has opened for swedish pop band The Radio Dept. He is also one of the founders of the international art publication YKKY Magazine. |
